  • Olfactory impulses
  • Auditory impulses
  • Memory

Function:

  • Emotion and memory circuits
Damage Effect:
  • Fear, anxiety, anger and paranoia
  • Hyper-religiosity
Psychopathology:
  • Auditory hallucinations and delusions  assoc. w/dep, mania and schizophrenia

An easy way to remember the functions of the temporal lobe:

  • L: Language (receptive): Wernicke’s  area
  • A: Affective component of speech
  • M: memory
  • E: emotion
