Hardware and software requirements

Minimum hardware requirements for PC and Mac users
Operating System PC: Windows 10 or higher required
Mac: macOS 10.14 (Mojave) or higher required
Mobile: Android 10+ or iOS 13+ (limited support)
Processor Dual-core CPU or better (Intel i3+, AMD Ryzen 3+)
RAM 4 GB of RAM required (higher is recommended)
Free Disk Space 4 GB available hard-drive space
Connection Broadband connection recommended
Minimum: 1.5 Mbps download speed; Recommended: 5 Mbps or higher
Monitor Monitor resolution of 1024 x 768 or higher
Audio & Video
  • Sound card and speakers or headphones for listening to audio components
  • Microphone, Webcam

If you have a laptop, a built-in camera will suffice unless otherwise specified for the course.
Browser

We recommend that you use the latest version of Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, or Safari for the best Moodle experience.

Moodle may also operate on other browsers, but with qualifications.

The browser should be set to accept cookies, allow JavaScript, and auto-updates enabled. Pop-up blockers should be disabled for Moodle.

  • Microsoft Office 365 or higher (to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Virus protection software

Additional Notes

  • JavaScript-based media players (e.g., AWS VideoJS) require modern browsers; older versions like Mozilla 5 are no longer supported.
  • Fallback code for older browsers is technically possible but not recommended due to security and performance concerns.
  • LMS platforms like Moodle and Brightspace support embedded multimedia, SCORM modules, and interactive tools like quizzes and branching scenarios
