Creating Zoom Videos 3—Setup Video Transcript

Thomas Yazer: This video's going to teach you how to get back to your Regis profile account for Zoom and grab your recording. So simply you go back to your profile and you will look for the Recordings tab on the left hand side. And what you look for here, once again, is your meeting name. Click on that and most likely what you'll do is you'll share the option that says Shared Screen with Speaker View. That's the most common way to share a video file with either your instructors or your students-- fellow students.

And simply go to where it has the chain link icon. Click that. And you'll see it says it's been copied. You can copy that directly into Moodle or to an assignment in Moodle, or however else you're going to be sharing video. Now, you also have the option to download the video, as well. So if you want to put it on your computer, if you want to make some edits with it, you can do that, as well.

And you can also do some minor things to it once it's loaded up. So let's click on the actual link itself. Now, one thing that didn't happen to this video was that I-- the transcription service did not work for my video. It should work for you, though. There seems to be a glitch in my account. But you'll see on the right hand side an actual transcription of everything that's being said as I'm saying it. It's very useful.

At the bottom of the screen, notice you have your radio buttons for your length of time of the recording. And on the right hand side, you can actually click on the scissor icon and you can adjust what's been taken in or out of the video. So if you know that there was some bad-- maybe the end of the video is not doing so well, you can actually cut that away from the recording and save that for people you'll be saving the video for.

So make sure when you click on that little icon that you have full control over the video system. Now, once this has been copied and pasted onto Moodle, you can always go back here and look for other ways in which you can view the recording. Some people like to have an audio-only copy. So what they do is they also copy that for the instructor or your fellow students. And the transcript, of course, as well.

So although it does say unable to transcribe, it really should say right here that it's been transcribed once your video has been properly sent for transcription. And it does take about another five or ten minutes after the video arrives in the recording area. So just be aware of that. That's it. That's how you record and grab your video from Zoom.
