This presentation will review associated changes in skin lesions. There are a variety of skin changes that can occur in which you should document along with the description of the skin lesion. This include erythema or reddened area around the skin lesion, crusting, scaling or any discharge including bleeding. Is there a central clearing to the skin lesion, a lighter skin in the center with an erythematous border as one might see with tinea corpus or yeast infection on the skin? Desquamation is the peeling or sloughing of the skin, seen with toxic shock syndrome. Keratotic change which is a hypertrophic stratum corneum, so very thick appearance to the skin with that you will see with callouses or warts. Punctuations, centrally in an umbilication type of presentation like molluscum or basal cell or a bug bite, spider bite or bee bite. Telangiectasias is a dilated blood vessels within the lesion that blanch completely as one would see with basal cell carcinoma.
