I'm a psychiatric nurse so I've mostly dealt with people with emotional pain. And it's both the challenge, but it's also the reward. You're helping people discover ways they can reduce their stress, cope with their emotional pain, make positive changes in their lives. Giving support to people living in various types of residencies is part of what psychiatric nurses in the community may do.
The roles that I've had been very interesting working as a clinical specialist. I've worked as a therapist, but I've also worked as a nurse manager on inpatient psychiatric units. I've worked with outreach teams where we would make home visits, medications, therapy, group therapy, a whole range of services.
