Week 4 Lesson 1 Podcast

Welcome to Week 4 Lesson 1. In this module, I’d like to give you some experience and exposure to, again, your analytical skills, and how do we actually measure carbon footprints, and how can we do that for a corporation? So I’m going to give you some data; I’m going to ask you to open up your Excel spreadsheets or your calculators and read a little bit about the methodology of computing greenhouse gas emissions for a person, a company, a product. And I’d like you to also watch a little video or a little PowerPoint presentation on how it might have been done for other products. And then, as an aside, I’m going to ask you to compute the greenhouse gas emissions for the Frito Lay potato chip plant in Casa Grande, Arizona for the years 2008 and 2010.

So I’m going to give you some data–which is pretty much actual data–and I’m going to ask you to use the methodology in the readings very carefully to compute the greenhouse gas emissions for this particular potato chip factory. So good luck. I hope your math skills are up to snuff, and we will talk to you soon. Bye.
