Bibliography Retrieval Transcript

This video will show you how to locate articles that you find in the references and bibliographies of other articles.

Suppose you are looking at this systematic review and you want to locate the first article listed in the bibliography. One easy method for locating this article is to do a quick search of the title in the library discovery search tool. First, copy the title of the article. Then, go to the library homepage and type the title in the discovery box with parentheses included and hit Search. The search will look for a match in all of the library's databases. As you can see, the first article on the list is the article we are looking for. And this article has a full-text open access option which means it is available for you to read or print.

Let's do another example from the same bibliography. Let's look for the 11th article that is in the bibliography. Type the title in the discovery search box. We found the reference for this article but not full text, however there's a link for you to request the item through interlibrary loan.

Another way to look for articles in a bibliography involves searching the periodical list. Go to the library homepage and click on Resources. In the dropdown menu, click on the link that m says "A through Z Journals". This is a searchable alphabetical list of all the journals the library has access to.

Let's go back to the first article in the bibliography. To find the article through the periodical list, type in the name of the journal, not the title of the article. into the search box. This shows us that the journal is available ffrom multiple sources and that the years available include 2004 through the present day. 2005 is the year of the article that we need. You can follow any of the links to find the article.

If you do not find a match by searching either discovery or A to Z, you can always go to your ILLAID account and request the article through interlibrary loan. This can be found by returning to the libaray's homepage, finding the Resources tab, and selecting interlibrary loan. It will take you to our guide which will walk you through how to access your account.
