Minimal Technical Requirements for Viewing Online Courses

1. Hardware

• Processor: Dual-core CPU or better (Intel i3+, AMD Ryzen 3+)
• RAM: Minimum 4 GB (8 GB recommended)
• Storage: At least 4 GB of free disk space
• Display: Monitor with 1024 x 768 resolution or higher
• Audio/Video:
  • Sound card with speakers or headphones
  • Microphone (built-in or external)
  • Webcam (required for video assignments or proctored exams)

2. Operating System

• Windows: Windows 10 or higher
• Mac: macOS 10.14 (Mojave) or higher
• Mobile: Android 10+ or iOS 13+ (limited support)

3. Internet Connection

• Minimum: 1.5 Mbps download speed
• Recommended: 5 Mbps or higher

4. Web Browser

• Supported Browsers: Latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge
• Browser Settings:
  • JavaScript enabled
  • Cookies allowed
  • Pop-up blockers disabled for LMS domains
  • Auto-update enabled

5. Software & Plugins

• Required:

  • Collaboration tools (Zoom, Teams, etc.)

Additional Notes

• JavaScript-based media players (e.g., AWS VideoJS) require modern browsers; older versions like Mozilla 5 are no longer supported.
• Fallback code for older browsers is technically possible but not recommended due to security and performance concerns.
• LMS platforms like Moodle and Brightspace support embedded multimedia, SCORM modules, and interactive tools like quizzes and branching scenarios.
