Roles and Issues in Advance Practice Nursing

Week 14 Introduction

In this module, you will begin to work on a Strength, Weakness, Opportunities, and Threat Analysis, also known as a SWOT Analysis, related to a patient's safety or quality improvement initiative seen in practice or in your clinical setting. A SWOT Analysis is a simple format used to identify components needed for a specific project and to request additional resources as you become a leader in your role as a nurse practitioner. You will review the Quality and Safety Education for Nurses competencies, also known as QSEN, for graduate prepared nurses and evaluate current practice data related to a patient's safety or quality improvement initiative. The information learned during this module will be applied to the official SWOT Analysis, which will be due in the following module.
